Our Mission

The New York State Society of Dermatology & Dermatologic Surgery (NYSSDDS) is the statewide medical specialty society of board-certified dermatologists practicing in New York State and is the state affiliate of the American Academy of Dermatology. The Society's mission is dedicated to harnessing the power of its membership for the advancement and practice of dermatology in New York State through education, research and advocacy. NYSSDDS strives to promote and assure the highest quality dermatological care for patients.

The practice of dermatology includes the diagnosis and medical/surgical management of the skin, hair, and nails to support and enhance patient care for a lifetime of healthier skin.

The benefits of membership in NYSSDDS includes opportunities for continuing education to enhance clinical practice and administration, annual meeting/conference, events and opportunities to network with colleagues and an advocacy program that works to preserve the practice of dermatology and welfare of dermatologic patients.

What do we do?

​

  • Serve as the premiere statewide medical specialty society in NYS for dermatologists;

  • Advocate for our members on legislative and regulatory matters as they concern the dermatological profession and practice in New York State;

  • Protect patients’ rights to safe dermatological care and treatment;

  • Help members continue their education and training by promoting life-long learning and excellence in the field of dermatology and dermatological surgery;

  • Mentorship and networking opportunities, including for early career dermatologists.
